PRESIDENT

Joining the Glendale Tennis Club in the spring of 2015 to pursue a new sport of tennis has proven incredibly successful. Nancy has enjoyed many hours of lessons with Head Pro Brian Hurd; socially met wonderful members; participated in leagues and eventually joined the volunteer Board of Directors, all of which have created meaningful experiences for her.

Now, as the President of the largest tennis club in Pickering, Nancy offers to each member a warm welcome to join in and experience all that this fun-filled club of like minded tennis enthusiasts has to offer!

VICE PRESIDENT

Barrie started playing the sport of a lifetime when he was 11 & 12 years old in Montreal. He restarted playing tennis at Glendale in 1977 when he was in his early twenties and has continued playing ever since. With Barrie’s passion for tennis, he enjoys volunteering on the executive at Glendale and loves to share the sport of tennis with others.

PAST PRESIDENT

Pascal has been a member of Glendale for 10 years and on the executive for 9 of those. His love of the game goes back to the epic Wimbledon matchups between Boris Becker and Stefan Edberg. Tennis to him is one of the most unifying sports one can choose. It is good for all ages and fosters a great social atmosphere.

MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR

Ellen, born and raised in Pickering, recently joined the Glendale Tennis Club and took up tennis a couple of years back. Passionate about the sport and community, she will be serving as the club's membership director in 2024. Ellen is looking forward to getting to know everyone within the Glendale community! It is such fun sport for all ages and is a great way to meet others with like interests.

TREASURER

Dave started playing tennis in East York in the 60’s, his only serious competition was OFSAA in the early 70’s. Dave moved from New Brunswick to Pickering in 1988 and promptly became a GTC member.

Dave volunteered as maintenance director until injury took him out, and has been treasurer at least twice before under several presidents.

What Dave loves about tennis is the fact that it is a life sport and it keeps his heart healthy.

JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR

Peter has been playing tennis for only 45 years! The sport is just as enjoyable to him now than it was when he was younger. Peter has been a volunteer at tennis clubs for over 25 years in roles such as Junior Director, Tournament Director and Team Captain. Peter has been Junior Director and the A Team Captain at Glendale for the past 8 years. He loves to give back to a sport that has given him so much over the years.

MAINTENANCE DIRECTOR

Mark has lived in Pickering for many decades and started playing tennis at Glendale Tennis Club in 2015. The club needed some housekeeping so Mark volunteered as Maintenance Director in 2016. He has held many other positions at Glendale over the years and has loved to give back. Mark has grown to love the game of tennis and hopes to play for many years to come.

CLUB PRO

With over 20 years of playing experience, including 15 years as a certified Tennis Pro, Brian brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the sport. He is a Certified Coach Club Level II, and has a team of dynamic, energetic instructors. Brian’s passionate and innovative teaching methods are designed to meet the needs of all players at all levels of play.

SECRETARY

Diane has been a club member for three years. She plays on the competitive B team and has enjoyed returning to tennis after a 13-year break. Diane loves the club interactions, leagues, and watching everyone have a FUN time!
