Following leagues will be available:

Durham Ladies Tennis League

League plays on Tuesday from 9:00 am for 12 weeks starting in early June (start date will be confirmed later by Convener). Play against other Durham area teams both home and away.  Open to A, B and C levels.

Durham Regional Competitive Tennis League

DRCTL teams play both home and away games throughout the Durham region. Play starts early May.

Durham A:  Wednesday evenings

Durham B: Monday evenings

Durham C: Wednesday evenings

Tryouts may be required.  Dates for tryouts are April 22 and 23rd from 11:00 am and will be co-ordinated by our Vice President, Barrie Cox and Club Professional, Brian Hurd.  Email will be sent to those who are invited to try out.

Junior House League

Glendale’s Junior House League drop-in runs on Sunday mornings starting June 4th to August 27th from 10:30 am to Noon. The format is doubles play. Prizes will be awarded to all participants each week. The cost to participate is $20 for the season.

Tuesday Night House League

The Tuesday Night House League is a wonderful opportunity for new and beginner players to come out and develop their tennis skills, share in the fellowship of being part of a team, have some competition to make things interesting, but most importantly to have FUN!! Play will start May 2nd and runs for 18 weeks including playoffs. Matches start at 7:00 PM. Your matches will be at pre-scheduled times. If you cannot play regularly, you may still join the “sub” list. Kristin Arpin and assistant captains will coordinate play. A great way to get to meet other players.

Wednesday Morning Ladies

This is a non-competitive social ladies’ league. It is open to all league members with minimum intermediate and higher skills. No tryout required. League starts Wednesday May 10th to Wednesday August 30th. Play format is a 15-minute warmup and three 30 minutes sets between the hours of 8:45 am to 10:30 am.

Thursday Morning 55+ League

New this year!!!  GTC will be joining the Inter County Tennis Association’s (ICTA) 55+ Division.  ICTA 55+ League runs from mid-May to late-August with championship matches at the end.  Doubles’ matches are played between clubs within a geographic area on Thursday mornings starting at 10:00 am.  Matches include Men’s, Ladies’ and Mixed matches (3 men and 3 ladies per match). The league hosts A, B and C levels.  GTC level of play will be B/C+ for proposed team.

Thursday Night Competitive League

The Thursday Night Competitive League is an all doubles, adult house league, tailored to ‘C’ ‘B’ & ‘A’ level Glendale members.

LEVEL TO REGISTER: If you are a current (or recent past) participant of a DRCTL Competitive ‘C’ ‘B’ & ‘A’ Division team then you are automatically considered a candidate to play in Glendale’s Thursday Night Competitive League. If not, you may be asked to attend our tryouts on April 22 and 23rd (11:00 am) so that your caliber of play can be assessed by our Club Pro.

START/END DATE: May 25th – September 7th (16 weeks).

LEAGUE TIMESLOTS PER NIGHT:

  • Timeslot #1 – 7:00 to 8:30PM
  • Timeslot #2 – 8:30 to 10:00PM
    * To participate in this program you have to be available for both time slots each week.

MAXIMUM # OF REGISTRANTS: 40 male & female members will be accepted into the Thursday Night Competitive League & 32 players will play each week. So you can expect to play a minimum of 4 out of every 5 weeks.

GENERAL LEAGUE DETAILS:
You do not require a doubles partner to register for this program – you sign up as a “single.”

This league is “gender blind,” which means 1, 2 , 3 or 4 males/females could be on a particular court each league night.

Each week by Monday (the latest), the league Convener will email out the time slots for the “playing” roster, and also the “sub” roster (those not scheduled to play).

You’ll be assigned a court with 3 other players on week #1 (based on your assessed level) and then you’ll move up or down courts based on a “Progressive” format there- after

PROGRESSIVE FORMAT: Each league night you will attempt to play with each of the other 3 players assigned to your court for 1 rotation of 6 games and 1 tiebreak each. When your 90 minute time slot expires you will report the total number of games you won to the convener. 1st place moves up a court the following week. 4th place moves down a court….2nd/3rd place remain on the same court.
